In July of 2018, I was invited to assist in a USGS-led study looking at food web linkages in Lower Cook Inlet, Alaska. I spent two weeks on board the 'Alaskan Gyre' with a team of 5 others. We trawled for forage fish, took water samples with a CTD and made at-sea bird surveys in Lower Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay. The study assesses the entire food web through observation and sampling to learn about the health of the marine ecosystem of the Gulf of Alaska.
I'll be working with this team again in the summer of 2019.
